Biography
In reversed order.
note: Mark van den Heuvel doesn't feel like talking in the third person about himself and pretend somebody else wrote his (my) biography.

FUTURE
Someday,
I would like to make a list of every song that ever touched me.
I would like to find the perfect definition of art.
I would like to find the perfect definition of design.
I would like to have the courage to sing for a large audience.
I would like to have a domestic cat if I wasn’t allergic to them.
I would really like to find the perfect description for what my work and profession is all about.

PRESENT
current situation
Since 2009, I am professionally working as an independent designer at the DMT-loods in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands. Right after the kick-off, I joined nieuweklasse* Amsterdam for professional collaboration and professional development.
Design statement
‘I don’t have a design statement yet.’
Important
My work is usually about typography. That’s just it.
A more semi-philosophical text about what my work is all about will be here soon.
As a graphic designer
I don’t see myself as a visual artist or a graphic designer. I think I find the truth about my work about twice a week, but it never seems to last. I often get disappointed with graphic design. I find my autonomous work as important as my commissioned work. I am currently trying to find the perfect balance between them.
Also very important
Since 2008, I started to make electronic music on a classic Nintendo Gameboy from 1989 using LSDJ. As a chiptune and 8-bit micromusic artist, I started to perform and record tracks as Monodeer.
A little less important, but still very important
Since 2003, I started to play my finest selection of electronic and experimental tunes under various names.
I have a record collection of about 300 vinyl records of various styles. From italo disco to experimental electronic music, from post-punk and new-wave to minimal techno and dubstep.
